Overview
Where the abdominal wall has stretched, no amount of exercise restores the muscle midline. Abdominoplasty repairs that separation, removes the redundant skin envelope, and re-establishes core support alongside the aesthetic change.
Who it suits
- Loose abdominal skin after pregnancy or significant weight loss
- Diastasis (separation) of the abdominal muscles
- A stable weight maintained for at least six months
The procedure
2 to 4 hours under general anaesthesia. A low horizontal incision is placed within the underwear line; muscle repair and liposuction contouring are usually included.
Recovery
Rest, supportive garment, walking gently upright encouraged.
Return to desk work; no lifting.
Core exercise reintroduced progressively.
Scar matures and continues to fade.
Results
Long-lasting, provided weight remains stable and future pregnancy is not planned.
Questions
