Face

Facelift

Repositioning of deeper facial tissues to restore definition along the cheeks, jawline and neck without a pulled appearance.

Overview

A modern facelift addresses the deeper SMAS layer rather than simply tightening skin. Lifting the underlying structure vertically restores volume where it has descended and leaves the skin under no tension, which is what keeps the result looking natural and ages gracefully.

Who it suits

  • Loss of definition along the jawline or jowling
  • Deepening folds between the nose and mouth
  • Laxity of the neck and loss of the cervical angle
  • Good skin quality and realistic expectations

The procedure

General anaesthesia or deep sedation, typically 3 to 5 hours. Incisions follow the natural contour in front of and behind the ear and within the hairline. Fat grafting is often combined to restore midface volume.

Recovery

Days 1–3

Rest with the head elevated, light dressing, minimal discomfort.

Week 1–2

Sutures removed. Bruising resolves; make-up may be used after review.

Weeks 3–4

Most patients are socially comfortable and back at work.

3–6 months

Scars soften and the final contour becomes apparent.

Results

Results are long-lasting and typically set the clock back by 8 to 10 years while ageing continues naturally from there.
